Hair extensions are a gift that should be cherished by all women, whether you have thin or thick hair. There’s a caveat to that though in that all women should cherish their hair extensions for the main reason that they are ethically sourced and if they are not, then there’s a major change that needs to happen. Many people are uneducated in the fact that not all hair extensions are sourced ethically. Wake up everyone and read on.
What’s the craze with hair extensions? More and more people are turning to the extensions, wigs and weaves to mix up their individual look and try something new. It can transform the way you look and the way people perceive you which could be in a totally different light than they once saw you before. Celebrities love them because each individual style, color and cut that they come in, act as an accessory to the outfit they’re wearing or the event they’re going to.
Hair extensions can serve a fun, flirty and unique purpose, but we are all in for a harsh reality. Has anyone ever wondered where that hair actually comes from though? Well we are here to share what knowledge we have, with you.
Women in other countries are constantly robbed from their hair.
Here are some ways how:
This goes the same for companies and brands who are buying their hair from certain distributors in that they won’t receive the quality hair that they paid for. Many times it’s just loose hair mixed with plastic, other chemicals and sometimes animal hair. With the product being cheaply made, it limits the vast number of styles you can do with the extension itself. This includes mainly hair curling and using a flat iron because they will both burn the product.
One other form for stealing hair is called “grave robbing” which is exactly as it sounds. Some people will actually go out, rob and take the hair from someone in their grave. It’s a sickening process and do you really want to be the one to buy from a brand that has their hair sourced from this or any of the above listed processes? Let’s hope not.
Our main hope and encouragement is from the Hindu practice of shaving off one’s head as a sacrificial act to the gods. This has been a good and steady stream of profit for them as they auction of their hair online, all ethically. This is an easy choice and place for hair brokers to visit when they are in need of more hair to make their product.
We are different than other hair extension brands on the market in that we are ethically sourced. We care about where and from whom are products are coming from, as well as who we are marketing them to.
As any responsible company would, we dug deeper into where our competitors source their hair from. We called a handful of customer service lines from multiple of our competitors and blatantly asked them from where their hair extensions were sourced and no one could give us an answer.
We took our digging a step further and sent one of our competitors hair extension products to our own manufacturer to see if they could figure it out. They got back to us concluding that the hair was not ethically sourced. That’s how Untangled came to be.
Untangled as a whole, is an ethically sourced hair extension brand with a focus in providing products that are a good and healthy quality for our customers. Our hair is affordable, ready to wear and easy to put in. We care for every woman out there and are exceedingly appreciative and humbled for those women who choose to give up their hair for profit, to in turn provide a life for their children and their family.
We all need to stand together as a whole to combat the abuse these women are facing all over the world and on a daily basis. The more our customers demand ethically sourced hair in the extensions they choose to purchase, the faster we can put this hair dilemma to rest.
